Kaspersky has made great efforts to streamline their presence on Android. Instead of two apps—one for tablets and another
for phones—there's now just one: Kaspersky Internet Security (free, $14.95 per year for one device). It also sports a refreshed interface and tweaked versions of all Kaspersky's existing mobile security tools. It's a solid security offering, but I want to see Kaspersky go further with their next redesign.

Malware Protection
At PC Mag, we rely on third party labs to handle mobile malware testing, but Internet Security is so new that most labs haven't had a chance to test it yet. I'll be updating this review once those results are in, however the developers tell me that they use the same malware detection engine as the previous version of the app, so earlier results should still be relevant.

Back in October, AV-Test found
that Kaspersky detected 99.7 percent of the 1,460 malware samples used
in the test. That soundly beats a (slightly depressed) industry average
of 90.5 percent. In my own tests, I was pleased to see that Kaspersky
had greatly improved the speed of its scans, going from 20 minutes in
February to a mere two minutes for a full system scan. The app will also
let you schedule scans and updates, and choose whether you want to scan
all files, just apps, or a specific directory.
